Meet Captain Tom

Hello, Anglers and Cruisers!
Come join me for an adventure on the stunning waters off Cape Ann and beyond. With decades of experience and expertise in navigation, fishing, and operations, I'm excited to share this beautiful area and its vibrant marine life with you, your friends, and family.
A Gloucester native, I grew up on Plum Cove Beach just above the Essex Bay mouth of the Annisquam River. My lifelong passion for fishing began in 1968, at the age of eight, when my mother took me and my best friend on a deep-sea fishing trip. Today, at 65, I'm just as eager to get out on the water, hook a catch, and enjoy the ocean's beauty.
I began my professional journey in the 1970s as a mate with Yankee Fleet in Gloucester and Key West. By 1979, I had earned my captain's certification from the United States Coast Guard, and I'm proud to be on my ninth five-year issue of my 100-mile / 100-ton ocean operator's license. In 1985, I launched my own fishing business out of Gloucester taking out anglers on boats named for my daughters. Today, my boats are named for their children, my grandchildren - the 23' Seacraft "Avery" and the 36' Harris "Lucas & Hannah" - adding another sea-faring generation to my family.
On land, I've contributed to marine conservation as a member of the Atlantic States Marine Commission and as a founder of the Gulf of Maine Charter and Recreational Fishing Association. It's crucial that we manage and act to protect the oceans and marine life we love.
Join me aboard the Lucas & Hannah or the Avery this year to ignite and deepen your love for fishing and the waters around Cape Ann and beyond.
I look forward to seeing you on board!
